Common Scams to Avoid
TNC drivers at Tweed New Haven sometimes claim the app "isn't working" and demand a flat cash fare that's 2-3× the metered rate, always insist on using the app or request a different driver.
Unmarked cars outside the terminal may present themselves as "official airport taxis" but lack the City of New Haven taxi medallion and charge inflated zone rates, only board vehicles displaying the official taxi light and medallion.
Some off-airport parking shuttles advertise "free shuttle to terminal" then add a mandatory "fuel surcharge" or "port fee" at payment, confirm all charges before handing over keys and use the on-site garage if terms seem unclear.
